On Sunday, May 5, three Atledo pupils drove to the town of Hechtel-Eksel in Belgium to end their May holiday in a sporty way. At the Pater Vandenberk Youth Meeting it was possible to register for individual events, while in the Netherlands pupils are usually obliged to complete the events in an all-around event.

In Belgium it is also possible at a young age to participate in components that in the Netherlands are only covered by juniors. For example, the discus throwing component was on the program for this competition. A great sporting challenge with a 100% guarantee of personal records! Ultimately, the score remained at eight personal best performances.

Keyon Winters, Maks Verhorevoort and Noah Farla competed in the Belgian ‘pupils’ category. In the Netherlands, this is equivalent to the U12 boys. Keyon ran almost a full second off his PR in the 60 meters and clocked 10.95 seconds. In the discus throw he wanted to go beyond 10 meters and he succeeded in that mission with 10.46m. Maks Verhorevoort proudly won two medals. He won the shot put with a mighty final push of 7.33m. In the discus throw, Maks came third with a long throw of 14.12m. Despite tired holiday legs, Noah Farla jumped to fourth place in the high jump with 1.20m. In the 1000 meters, Noah even unexpectedly broke his personal record in a time of 4.01.55 minutes.
