UpdateA rain and shower zone with local thunderstorms will move across our country from France this afternoon. The good news: things will get better from tomorrow.

This afternoon an active rain and shower zone passes through our country from the south to the north. Some showers are intense, with local thunder and possibly a lot of precipitation in a short time. In the provinces of Antwerp and Limburg, code yellow applies for thunderstorms from 2 p.m. This applies until 9am tomorrow morning. Local quantities of more than 20 mm in 6 hours and/or 25 mm in 24 hours are possible, and very locally even more than 40 millimeters in 24 hours. The emergency number 1722 is active for those who need help from the fire brigade, without a life-threatening situation.

In the regions near the French border, apart from a few local showers, it will soon become mostly dry with gradually some clear spells. It will also become drier in the central part of the country at the end of the afternoon. The maximum temperatures fluctuate between 12 and 15 degrees in the Ardennes and between 15 and 18 degrees elsewhere.

This evening There will be intense showers with a chance of thunder, especially in the far north and northeast. Elsewhere it is often dry with only a few local showers and increasing clear spells from the French border. Next night we still expect periods of rain or a few showers over the far north and northeast. At the end of the night, this precipitation spreads again towards the center. In the other regions it remains mainly dry with sometimes even broad clear spells, but also the formation of local fog or low clouds. The minimum temperatures are between 5 and 7 degrees in the Ardennes, around 8 degrees in the center and 12 degrees in the north.

TomorrowThis afternoon it is often cloudy, especially in the northern half of the country, with some light rain here and there. In the south it is often dry with sun. In the afternoon the distribution is the other way around, with more clouds and showers, especially in the south, and sometimes broad and dry skies in the north. The maximum temperatures fluctuate between 13 and 18 degrees.

WednesdayIn the morning, low clouds or – especially in the Ardennes – also fog banks appear in many areas. During the day, clear skies will appear at the sea and in the west. Elsewhere it will remain rather cloudy. It remains mainly dry with maximum temperatures between 13 and 17 degrees.

Thursday there is first local morning gray. During the day the sun breaks through and there are sometimes broad clear skies, especially over Flanders. It remains dry at a maximum of 14 to 19 degrees.

Also Friday it will remain dry with, after any morning gray, an alternation of sun and clouds. We achieve maximum temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees. Next weekend the chance of precipitation remains limited. Cloud fields and sometimes broader clearings alternate. The maximum temperatures fluctuate from 15 to 16 degrees at the sea and in the High Ardennes to around 20 and locally 22 degrees elsewhere.
