The next elections are over Sunday June 9, 2024. Flemish and Brussels residents aged 18 and older then vote for the European Parliament, the Chamber of Representatives (Federal) and the Flemish or Brussels-Capital Parliament.

On Sunday, October 13, 2024 we will vote for the municipal and provincial council.

For whom?

  • From the age of 18 you are obliged to vote in the Flemish and Federal elections.
  • From the age of 16 you are obliged to vote in the European elections

Who can vote in Diest?

  • You are Belgian.
  • You are registered in the Diest population register
  • On election day you are:
    • 16 years or older (for European elections)
    • 18 years or older (for Flemish and Federal elections)
  • You have the right to vote (you are not excluded or suspended).

Europeans living in Diest can participate in the European elections in Diest on Sunday, June 9. If you, as a European, want to vote in Diest, you must register yourself on the voters’ list.

Belgians living abroad have various options to cast their vote.

Where should I vote?

The city of Diest provides various voting locations throughout the territory. You can find the location of your polling station on your polling card.

Convocation letter

All residents over the age of 18 receive a notice from the city, at least 15 days before the elections. In the convocation letter you will find out when you should be at which polling station.

This is what you bring to the polls:

  • Convocation letter. You cannot cast a valid vote without a convocation letter.
  • Identity card

Have you not received a summons letter or have you lost the letter?

In the week before the elections, you can request a copy of your personal convocation letter by appointment from the civil affairs department at City Hall.
