The non-profit organization Fire Department Stabroek published its 2023 annual report. This shows that interventions for wasp and caterpillar control require a lot of work and commitment.
The Stabroek Fire Department emergency service responded 228 times. ( )
“We were called out 6 times for water damage and flooding, and twice we had to clear and clean the public road. Storm damage accounted for ten interventions, seven times we were called for fallen trees, and once it was necessary to secure a chimney,” explains service chief Danny De Schutter.
“We went out a total of 105 times to exterminate wasps. We carried out gas detection three times and last year it was not necessary to respond to a fire,” De Schutter adds.
But the Stabroek Fire Department also made school visits, hydrants were checked and the non-profit organization was present at many mass spectacles. The training, exercises and administrative tasks should not be forgotten. “We are also encouraged to note that the local population continues to support us,” says Danny De Schutter.
