“Everyone knows that we are the real party of working people,” he said, followed by an immediate sneer at PS’s proposal to introduce a 32-hour working week. “At a time when there are 200,000 jobs looking for people, the socialists want us to work only 32 hours.” De Croo emphasized that entrepreneurs and SMEs would suffer from the proposal.
“And the Greens also think that everyone should work less,” De Croo said. “They want to give people who are unmotivated time credit so they can travel around the world for free. Who will pay for that? The taxpayer.”
De Croo also criticized N-VA’s proposal to build prisons in Kosovo. “That is an idea that they stole from Denmark, which has already cost 210 million euros. But not a single prisoner has left for Kosovo. And yet Theo Francken believes that this is how he will solve the overcrowding in the prisons. While the solution simply is what Vincent Van Quickenborne did: build detention houses like in Kortrijk.”
CD&V was also not spared. “They believe that we should tax savings extra with a capital register. The working middle class have now suddenly all become millionaires. The Christian Democrats’ capital register means paying a tax on savings that you have already been taxed on.”
