The Antwerp court has requested Michielsen’s extradition from Germany, but that will take some time. Tom Michielsen has opposed the rapid extradition procedure in Germany.

In the meantime, lawyer Johan Vangenechten, who represents Tom Michielsen, has filed an objection against the conviction at the end of last year. The court then punished Michielsen with an effective prison sentence of 8 years for allegedly bribing a customs officer – nicknamed Kurt van de Scan. He had allowed a drug container to pass through without inspection. The evidence came from cracked messages from chat service Sky ECC.

Customs officer Kurt DM denied the bribery until the last breath. The court nevertheless sentenced him to 5 years in prison. The customs officer appealed and will appear before the court of appeal on June 21.

Tom Michielsen remained absent from his trial and did not send a lawyer to represent him. He was sentenced to eight years in prison. Due to the resistance, the corruption trial against him will be repeated in the first instance, probably before the summer recess.

The Dutch court is also requesting the extradition of Tom Michielsen because he still has to serve 11 years in prison there. For example, he was sentenced to 8 years in prison for his drug trafficking together with the Hague godfather Piet S. Since Michielsen has Belgian nationality, it appears that he will first be extradited to Belgium.
