In A La Carte, writer Joost Vandecasteele plainly calls the MR and the PS “corrupt, hypocritical parties filled with paranoid, aggressive conspiracy fools.” And the Brussels PVDA is a “loose projectile with an unusually hard discourse.”
After almost 25 years, Vandecasteele leaves Brussels with slamming doors and moves to Mechelen. The reason is the failure of the ‘Good Move’ circulation plan in Anderlecht and, even more, the death threats against the Anderlecht aldermen of Mobility Susanne Müller-Hübsch (Green).
Vandecasteele is very pleased that “parties such as the MR, the PS and PVDA approve and even encourage this aggression,” as he says. “There is not a single city outside of Brussels where politicians promote aggression. Accepting violence as a means of political pressure eventually leads to dictatorship.”
In the discussion about the circulation plan, especially by the Brussels PVDA, the Dutch-speaking inhabitants of Brussels were pointed to as a cause of gentrification. Moreover, it also has to do with his daughter’s asthma and the traffic rage in the capital, which the writer is thoroughly fed up with. So for all these reasons he is leaving tonight.
