WINTERSWIJK – On Tuesday, May 14, it is European Stroke Day and everyone can have their cholesterol, blood pressure, BMI and blood sugar measured for free in the central hall of the Queen Beatrix Regional Hospital (SKB) in Winterswijk. Anyone who does this will immediately receive the results and, if necessary, advice and more information. The walk-in day starts at 9:30 am and lasts until 3:30 pm.

“Together with Marga Klompé, we are committed to health and organize the test day. Everyone is welcome. Our focus is on prevention, because a healthy lifestyle is the key to reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. That is why visitors can have their blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and BMI measured for free,” says Anoek Forkink, nurse specialist in Neurology.

Instant results
(Diabetes) Nurses from the SKB and Marga Klompé will be present on Tuesday, May 14, to take various measurements on visitors. Everyone receives the results on the spot and, if necessary, advice. Are there any special results from the tests? The results will then be discussed immediately with a nurse specialist. Visitors receive the results on paper, so that they can discuss them with their own GP if necessary.

About European Stroke Day
The European Stroke Day exists to draw attention to, among other things, prevention and risk factors of stroke. More than 40,000 people in the Netherlands suffer a stroke every year. A healthy lifestyle, such as a healthy diet, sufficient exercise and moderate alcohol consumption, reduces the risk of a stroke. If someone has an increased risk of stroke, it is important to have a check-up with the doctor once a year. Moreover, it is important to know what a stroke is, how to recognize it and what to do next. Information about this can be found on this day in various brochures and flyers that are available at the SKB or at www.hersenstichting.nl.
