Macklemore posted the song yesterday on Instagram and X, with images of the student protests and the war in Gaza. The video has already been viewed millions of times. The title ‘Hind’s Hall’ refers to the protests at American universities. At Columbia University in New York, demonstrators occupied the campus building Hamilton Hall and renamed it “Hind’s Hall” in honor of a six-year-old girl killed in Gaza.

In the song, Macklemore calls for a ceasefire and supports the protests. “What if you were in Gaza, what if these were your children? What if the West pretended you didn’t exist? Then you would want the world to rise up, and the students finally did that.”

He also lashes out at US President Joe Biden. “The blood is on your hands Biden, we can all see it. And no, I won’t vote for you in the fall.” And the music industry is also complicit when they remain silent, it sounds. “What happened to the artist, what do you have to say? If I had a label, you could drop me today. I want a ceasefire, not an answer from Drake.” He refers to the argument between rappers Drake and Kendrick Lamar that went viral.

On social media, Macklemore promised that he will donate proceeds from the new song to UNRWA, the United Nations aid agency for Palestinian refugees.
