RoyaltyPrince Harry (39) has just arrived in his home country, the UK, following a special event for the Invictus Games in London’s St Paul’s Cathedral. He will not visit his father, King Charles, or his brother, Prince William, during his visit.
It was expected, but many Britons are disappointed to hear that Prince Harry, who now lives in the US, will not visit his family during his visit to England. “Due to the many questions, Prince Harry unfortunately has to announce that his busy schedule does not allow this,” a spokesperson for the prince responded. That is of course nonsense, but it is a friendlier statement than simply: ‘The feud is still going on, and both parties would rather not see each other.’ In any case, it creates certainty: no royal dove of peace will be sent out in the coming days.
Harry will attend a celebration at St Paul’s Cathedral for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. The games are a kind of Olympics for people who suffered disabilities on the battlefield, and Harry was one of the founders of the organization. It is the only royal project in which he is still involved, also from the States.
It was fairly certain that Harry would not see his brother William – even though the latter is currently having a particularly difficult time following the cancer diagnosis of his wife, Kate. The two brothers have not spoken to each other for years, except when absolutely necessary. Harry himself also indicates that his bond with William is non-existent at the moment. There was still hope for a possible reconciliation between Harry and Charles. After all, Harry went to visit his father after he announced his own cancer diagnosis, but even then he ended up spending only two hours in the king’s company. Although Charles indicates that he will always leave the door ajar for Harry, the last hope for a meeting between the two is now completely over.
The news also comes after the British royal palace for the first time did not send birthday wishes to little prince Archie, who celebrated his 5th birthday on May 6. Yet another sign that the rift between Harry and his family is widening.
