Singer Lily Allen (38) sometimes travels by plane with her 12-year-old daughter. But sitting next to each other is not a must.

When Allen flew to London to celebrate her friend and podcast host Miquitta Oliver’s birthday, she didn’t sit next to her daughter Ethel on the plane. She admitted this during the podcast Miss Me?. “We’re flying to London today to visit you for your birthday. I go in first class, they go in economy,” said Allen. “There is currently a trend on social media of people defiantly saying that they will not give up their seat on a plane for children.”

Miquita then replied: “Honestly, why would you give your seat to a child if you paid for it? It’s not like being on a train.”

Miscarriage

Allen shares her two daughters, Ethel Mary, 12, and 11-year-old Marnie Rose, with her ex-husband Sam Cooper. Despite her love for her children, the singer previously admitted that her children “totally ruined” her music career. Although she also indicated that she doesn’t mind because they make her life “complete”.

The girls were born after several difficult periods. Allen had a miscarriage in 2008 with her former partner Ed Simons, followed by the stillbirth of her son George in November 2010.
