GhentA 29-year-old woman faces 6 months in prison after trying to walk out of Primark with two full bags of stolen clothing. She did that with a friend. The latter had already stolen items from the Hema earlier that day. She faces 10 months in prison.

The theft dates from last summer, but has only now been dealt with in court. Two women were charged with shoplifting, but only one of them showed up in court. She took part in one theft, her companion struck three times.

665 euros

In June of last year, the pair were spotted casually trying to walk out of Primark with two full bags. A security guard asked to check their bag. It soon became apparent that none of the items had been paid for. The value of the stolen items amounted to 665 euros. “I wanted to pay it, I forgot,” one of them said incredulously.

The companion who did not show up turned out to have stolen some party items in the Hema that same day. A few months later, that last lady was spotted again in the Primark. With an old bag from the store, filled with stolen clothing, she tried to walk out again. But even now she ran into the lamp. One woman was sentenced to 6 months in prison. The other faces a 10-month prison sentence.
