No. Office 365 still exists. See here: You can still buy it: https://www.microsoft.com…%3Aoverzichttab&market=nl

And here is a page from Microsoft itself where M365 and O365 are compared: https://www.microsoft.com…fice365-plans-and-pricing

We have tens of thousands of people at work with… Office 365 E3. And we buy Windows once together with the laptops. That is much, much cheaper than renting Windows with Microsoft 365 (saves millions per year).

Microsoft hides it as much as possible on their site because they want to promote M365 as much as possible. They even have pages that say “Office 365 is now part of Microsoft 365.” And that may also be the case for consumers. But Office 365 for businesses still exists, and as I said, the difference is that with M365 you also rent Windows. And then the enterprise version.

They are increasingly trying to promote it by making O365 more difficult to find on their site and offering all kinds of new features only with M365, such as the better patch management of Windows Enterprise. And that’s what they did with copilot in the beginning. But they stopped doing that, otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to take it (we really would never have switched to M365 just to take copilot, because that has to be done for all users at the same time, even those without copilot).

But O365 is still available as a separate subscription. Microsoft’s marketing is simply aimed at misleading you as a customer. Just like with all those different products under the name copilot, it is very annoying to have to continuously fight against it and always have to clarify what is what. Every time they throw out a press release saying “CoPilot now free with Windows!!!” and then we get a whole stream of users searching for it in office. Sigh. It sometimes really feels as if Microsoft itself doesn’t know it, but is just running headlong to be the first on the market with this.
