Precisely! Totally agree. I’m on most social media, and I think the fixation on tiktok is actually the biggest manipulation and misinformation.
In my experience, Tiktok is not sacred, but in my experience it is still the cleanest and best moderated platform of all consumer social media. (Linkedin etc. aside)

I watched TikTok’s “congressional hearings”, and the reasoning behind banning TikTok in America is based on questions like: “Does TikTok have access to WiFi?” and when Shou Zi Chew responded with a bit of surprise, they shouted over it “Answer me Yes or no!”

Many of the politicians in the USA who want to ban TikTok have shares in Meta, This is just public information.

If there are certain aspects of TikTok that are not good, then Meta/X are not good either. General rules must be laid down for this. If the only problem is the ties with the Chinese, then I would also like to ban Meta for the same reason. After the “congressional hearings” hearings, the illusion that the USA is less corrupt than China in this aspect is completely gone. This is just an old-fashioned piece of market protectionism.
