KV Kortrijk had already been condemned by many, but look… after tonight they can have their fate in their own hands again. This is partly due to the failure of RWDM, which never really had a chance against Charleroi and lost twice in a row.
Last week, RWDM could already be assured of second place and a jump-off match with the winner of the play-offs in the Challenger Pro League. Losses against Kortrijk and Charleroi mean that they now have to look back again.
Kortrijk can, if they win against Eupen, get over them tonight. And then it all comes down to the last day of play. Then Kortrijk plays against Charleroi and RWDM against Eupen.
“We are not dead, but we are no longer in control of our fate. Whatever the result of Kortrijk-Eupen on Sunday, we still have one match ahead of us, and we will have to be present in it,” Yannick Ferrera put into perspective.
“For the rest, I am not going to think of any scenarios about that. I have already told my boys that next week it will not be about tactics, but about competitiveness. Playing with the heart. We will really have to stand up in that area in Eupen.”
It is clear how it got to this point. RWDM plays like a dead bird. “I know it’s a terribly stupid answer, but: that’s just how football is. I would or could say it differently, but that’s how it is. It can go up quickly, but it can also go down quickly.”
