Dennis Praet was linked with a return to Belgium this winter. It remains to be seen whether it might happen this summer.

Dennis Praet was linked to Royal Antwerp FC during the winter mercato. He was one of the options to accommodate the departure of Arthur Vermeeren to Atletico Madrid.

“There was discussion at the time, yes, there was interest. But that wasn’t the best solution. And then we had to talk about sums again, which made everything more difficult. As a free player I am now stronger,” says Praet in Het Nieuwsblad.

Anderlecht fans would certainly not say no to a comeback by Praet in Lotto Park. “We’ll see. I cannot predict the future. I still follow Anderlecht – albeit in moderation, because I am not a big football watcher. I’m glad it’s competing for the title again. Still surprising, after all those difficult years.”

Free player

Praet’s situation this summer is a lot simpler than it was last year or this winter. Perhaps a return to the Jupiler Pro League is possible.

“I’m at the end of my contract and ready for something new. I am now 29 and physically at the peak of my career. I definitely want to become important somewhere again, so that I can find the fun in the game again.”
