If things don’t go the way they should, then it has to be the way it goes
Try to be as flexible as possible in your life. If you have planned something and something comes up, deal with it as relaxed as possible. Sometimes you just have to adapt, and you can do that in peace.

Asking for help is powerful
All my life I have assumed that asking for help was a sign of weakness. At the same time, anyone could ask me for help. I now know better, and that also has to do with the alcohol problem I had. That only worked out from the moment I asked for help.

“I’ve never done it before, so I think I can do it”
That statement is always attributed to Astrid Lindgren’s Pippi Longstocking, but apparently she never said it that way. Still, it’s a good one. I often have the idea that I won’t be able to do something, but if I start with it, it works out quite well. Whether it’s cooking or completing ‘Karel’s crypto’, now one of my favorite activities.

“Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be child. Always”
Another quote attributed to different people. My daughter recently wrote it on the chalkboard wall. No one goes through life without worries, so try to have understanding and empathy. If someone is in a bad mood, there must be a reason for it.

“Humour is the best remedy”
This is a sentence from my father’s farewell letter, which I found after he died and which I used in the performance TANIA! If you can’t tolerate jokes about something, you haven’t finished processing it yet. If you can, there is a good chance that you have processed it and can put it into perspective. Humor makes life more bearable.
