That detail emerges from ‘Spare’, the book that Prince Harry published. “There were already two heirs who had a name that starts with a ‘c’ and has a crown floating above it (Charles and Camilla, ed.),” Harry writes. “It would be too confusing if a third were added, Charles thought. “So make it Katherine with a ‘K’ instead of a ‘C’, they suggested.” Harry remembers looking at his brother, Prince William, at that moment. “I gave him a look that said ‘are you hearing what I’m hearing?’. But his face remained impassive.” The proposal was ultimately not heeded. Princess Catherine is still written with a ‘c’ today.
