Putin spokesman’s son gets fake phone call about mobilization: “I’ll solve this on another level”

Footage of a phone call between a Russian journalist and the son of Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov is currently being shared on Twitter. Nikolay Peskov makes it clear in the phone call that he will not report for mobilization. It’s not clear whether the video is real or staged, but the voice is said to be “similar,” it said.

Nikolay Peskov is the 22-year-old son of Dmitri Peskov, Putin’s spokesman and confidant. He served in the past in the Russian army with the Strategic Missile Forces.

In the footage above, he receives a call from a journalist linked to Russian dissident Alexey Navalny. The journalist poses as a soldier and asks Peskov why he has not responded to his letter of summons for mobilization. Peskov should report to the military commissariat at 10 o’clock the next morning.

“Of course I won’t be coming tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock,” the man answers on the phone. “You have to understand that I am Mr. Peskov and it is not right for me to be there. I will solve this on another level.”

It is not certain whether the man on the line is actually Nikolay Peskov. Dmitri Masinski, who is known for his research and translations of Russian sources and as @wartranslated, does say that at least his voice sounds “very similar”.
