A downer for the many viewers of Netflix. Some of their biggest achievements are being pushed back to 2025, and that’s because of last year’s lengthy strike.

Both writers and actors campaigned for better working conditions for months, but their long work break now causes significant delays on the screen. The fifth and final season of Stranger things, production of which started at the beginning of January (while this was normally May 2023, ed.), will not even be ready by the end of this year. This is because the images require a lot of computer post-processing. This means that there is a gap of three years between the penultimate and final season. That was also the case between seasons three and four.

The same problem exists Wednesdaythat Stranger things dethroned as the most watched Netflix series. You won’t get the sequel until 2025, because filming won’t start in Ireland until April. Also from the drama series One pieceone of the bigger hits of 2023, the sequel won’t appear until next year.

Also only before 2025: new episodes of The Lincoln lawyer, The recruit, The watcher, Sweet Magnolias, Ginny & Georgia and Virgin river. The latter sequence is being shot in Vancouver, and production can’t start until the spring when the snow clears.

Fortunately, there is still a lot to look forward to at Netflix in 2024: Squid game, Bridgerton, The night agent, Cobra kai, Emily in Paris and The diplomat have a new season ready.
