A man was arrested at Gare de Lyon train station in Paris on Saturday morning on suspicion of attacking several people with a knife. This is reported by the police prefecture. Three people were injured, including one seriously injured.

The facts happened around 8 am. The police prefecture has not yet made any statements about the perpetrator’s motive. According to police, he did not scream during his attack. He was in possession of an Italian driver’s license, but little else is known about him. According to French media, he did not say a word after his arrest. It could possibly concern a man from Mali who has residence status in Italy.
The Gare de Lyon is an important station that handles an estimated 150 million travelers per year. It is the northernmost point of the main train connections from Paris south to Lyon and Marseille and to Switzerland and Italy.
