The police in the Swiss city of Zug found a python of more than 2.5 meters long in the trunk of a car during a traffic stop on Thursday night. None of the four occupants had a permit to own the animal.
The police checked a suspicious vehicle in Zug around 3 am. During that check she came across a small amount of prohibited substances. A large python was found in a polystyrene box in the suitcase.
The snake measures 2.5 meters and weighs about 25 kilos. The four occupants – two Kosovars, a Frenchman and a Swiss between 18 and 31 years old – gave conflicting statements about the animal’s origins. A Kosovan had two fake passports in his pocket.
A permit is required to have this type of snake. However, none of the occupants could produce it. The snake was therefore confiscated and placed in a specialized clinic. According to the first investigations, the animal is said to be in good health.
