Lothar Callaerts (29), formerBlind Marriedcandidate and fervent supporter of Beerschot, gives in TV Family admitted that he made a big mistake when he walked onto the field of Union Saint-Gilloise in April and dealt some serious blows. “I was in a bad place in my own skin,” he says.
The Union-Beerschot match on Sunday 10 April was canceled due to fan riots. We soon recognized Lothar Callaerts on the images. De Puursenaar was featured in the VTM program in 2020 Blind Married. He then married Tatiana from Ghent, but it was not to be. Callaerts was one of Beerschot’s supporters who walked onto the field during the match against Union and dealt blows. At the time, Lothar reacted briefly that “everything was blown up”, months later he admits his mistake.
“Of course I realize that I made a mistake,” he says in TV Family. “Ah, I was in a bad place. The next day my grandmother was buried. But yeah, I should have been smarter.” According to Callaerts, he was pushed over the fences. “Although I shouldn’t have handed out those blows. A few seconds later I thought to myself: ‘Lomperik!’.”
The Blind Marriedcandidate expects to receive another stadium ban. “But as long as that is not the case, I will continue to support Beerschot every time. Certainly behind the balustrades. At least I feel a lot better now than then.” Lothar refers to his new relationship with Sarah, which he announced on Instagram earlier this month.
A year ago, the Beerschot supporter had less good news: his relationship with Kelsey, to whom he was engaged, was over. “I felt like a failure,” he says. “But now with Sarah everything is for good.”
