What does sustainability look like in the Netherlands and the 6 Dutch Caribbean islands? Visual artist and photographer Sharelly Emanuelson investigated the relationship between humans and their environment in the light of climate change and the impact of daily actions on it. From the waste processing industry to the creative reuse of PET bottles. The result can be seen in the exhibition, which can be seen from September 23, 2022 to January 15, 2023, Sustainable in the Rijksmuseum.

The works in the exhibition are grouped around different themes, in which human actions are always central. The photos show how people deal differently with issues such as water management, erosion and waste processing. The consequences are large or small, temporary or permanent. Emanuelson photographed the Netherlands and the 6 Dutch Caribbean islands: Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, St. Eustatius and St. Maarten.
