LOCHEM – An 81-year-old man from Deventer, who was involved in a serious accident on the Zutphenseweg near Lochem on Wednesday morning, has died. That’s what the police report.

The man died in hospital from his injuries. Two women were also injured in the accident, police said. It concerns a minor woman and a 50-year-old woman. Both are from Barchem.

Cause investigated

The accident took place on Wednesday morning on the provincial road N346 between Lochem and Zutphen. Three cars were involved in the accident. Police said on Thursday morning that an investigation into the exact cause of the fatal accident is still ongoing.

Zutphenseweg was closed in both directions for a long time on Wednesday morning after the accident. It was also clear then that several people had been injured. One of them has now died of his injuries.

Another fatal accident

In the night from Wednesday to Thursday it went wrong again, then on the Wekeromseweg in Ede. The driver of a passenger car, which for unknown reasons collided with a truck, died.
