OM: no connection between arrest and death of 42-year-old Remon

According to the Public Prosecution Service (OM) in the Netherlands, there seems to be no connection between the arrest and the illness of 42-year-old Remon Kalloe from Rhoon (South Holland), who died in a hospital on Friday evening. That reports the ANP today.

The Public Prosecution Service would have come to this conclusion after an autopsy performed on the man’s body by a doctor from the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI).

In addition to the investigation by the NFI, the National Criminal Investigation Department also conducts a fact-finding investigation to gain an idea of ​​the deployment of the police and whether it is in accordance with the instructions on the use of force. This fact-finding investigation by the National Criminal Investigation Department has not yet been completed.

Remon Kalloe also known as Don Kane was violently arrested by the police on September 8. He was tasered and bitten by a police dog and fell into a coma after becoming unwell that same night. According to his family, it is clear that he died as a result of brutal police brutality

His funeral will take place next Saturday September 24, 2022 in Rotterdam. A day later, on Sunday 25 September 2022 at 4:00 pm, people have been called to gather at Schouwburgplein to protest against police brutality.
