Philip De Klerck was chosen by the jury from thirteen candidates. Every year, the Peace Prize awards an organization, association or person that has distinguished itself in the field of solidarity, tolerance, non-discrimination, respect and non-violence. Philip De Klerck fully met those criteria for the jury. He has shown a great deal of commitment in recent decades, including starting 11.11.11 in Sint-Niklaas, setting up the Solidarity Action and Advisory Council, co-founding the non-profit organization Dwagulu Dekkente and his commitment to the management of the local NGO. Philip De Klerck is the successor of former politician Nelly Maes, who received the first Peace Prize last year.
