Coevia vzw delivered its analysis of the market for Belgian white-blue cattle on 6 September this week.
dhe price for calves is status quo and varies, just like last week, from 800 to 1,025 euros for a good calf. 970 euros is the average standard. This price includes VAT. The market is fixed, with supply less than demand.
The price for the cows is status quo, with an average price of 3.9 to 4.2 euros/kg live weight. The target price for slaughter weight is 5.85 to 6.35 Euro/kg, with some peaks up to 6.4 Euro/kg for well-finished cows and premium quality (S+). There is a difference of 0.05 to 0.10 euros higher if the cow is younger than 5 years. This price is exclusive of VAT. The market is calm here, with supply equal to demand (equilibrium).
Finally, a status quo with regard to price is also noted for the bulls, with a price fluctuating around 4.1 to 4.4 euros per live kg or 6.1 to 6.4 euros per slaughtered weight. 6.3 euro/kg is taken as the norm. A price of 6.4 euros/kg (S +) is applied if delivered under a specific label (cooperative, infants, less than 700 kg). A difference of 0.05 to 0.10 euros higher can be observed for bulls under 20 months of age. These prices are exclusive of VAT. The market is tight enough, with supply less than demand.
