Plus comes with a new food concept: Plus Today. Later this month, the first pilot store of the convenience formula will open its doors in the North of South Holland.

With the new formula, Plus wants to focus more emphatically on breakfast, lunch and meals for in between, the chain says. Plus Today has been developed for supermarkets with a smaller turnover or surface area, with a neighborhood or neighborhood function. In the shops, the bread department is given a more prominent place and all fresh groups can be found directly at the front of the shop. Customers can pay for their groceries using self-scanners. There is no longer a single traditional cash register in the branch in The Hague.

Instabox – a parcel safe in which parcels are delivered and collected – is also part of the new concept and works entirely on self-service. “With this formula concept, we are responding to the consumer’s growing need for convenience and speed,” says Peter van Mourik, director of customer & formula.

After the first store in Noorden, Plus Today will be on the facades of locations in Baarn (2), Niekerk, The Hague and Duiven. After a pilot period of six months in six stores, the chain will decide whether the concept will be rolled out nationally.
