Flemish film has to fight for cinemagoers. That is why the Flemish film industry is now joining forces with a remarkable campaign. For some long-awaited Flemish productions that will be released this year, you can go to the movies together for the price of one ticket.
The advertising campaign under the title ‘Flemish film, Borderless cinema’ kicked off today. It concerns a collaboration between producers, distributors, cinema operators and the Flemish Audiovisual Fund. The movies that matter are Ritual, Rebel by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, close by Lukas by Lukas Dhont and The Eight Mountains which Felix Van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch played together.
Remarkably, three of these four films did well at the Cannes Film Festival: close of Lukas Dhont was awarded the Grand Prix, The Eight Mountains van Felix van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch took home the Prix du Jury. Rebel by Adil & Bilall was presented in Cannes as Midnight Screening.
From Monday to Thursday
However, it is good to look out when you go to the movies. Ritual, with Marie Vinck and Geert Van Rampelberg, will be published this week – on September 7 – but the ticket promotion is valid from September 12 to 15. Also for the other films, the promotion will only apply from Monday to Thursday. For example, the distributors want to lend a helping hand to the traditionally austere cinema days.
Rebel will be released next month on October 5, from November 2 it’s up to Close and De Acht Bergen should be there from November 14. For each of those films, the exact dates of this ticket promotion are still being communicated.
You can check which cinemas are participating in the promotion on the promotion’s website.
