Ghent shoots itself in the foot and loses a visit to Charleroi

KAA Gent had to visit Charleroi today for an important match in the Jupiler Pro League. It was a frustrating night for the Buffalos.

Today the buffalo’s from Ghent visiting Charleroi. In advance, Hein Vanhaezebrouck spoke a lot about the fatigue of his team. On Thursday they played a make-up game on the Anderlecht field and today they had to work hard again. With Thursday’s European move to Molde in prospect, Vanhaezebrouck gave Vadis Odjidja a rest. The midfield patron started on the bench.

The first twenty minutes were hard to watch. Both teams played very cautiously and so there were no chances. In minute 22 we got the first goal danger, and it was immediately hit. Samoise put the ball nicely in front of the goal and Hong headed the 0-1 against the nets. A few minutes later, the home side even escaped the 0-2 score when Samoise hit the bottom of the crossbar.

Ghent kills itself

Around the half hour Charleroi came better and better into the game. They didn’t get great chances, but under the leadership of Zorgane and Morioka, the zebras more dangerous and more dangerous. In minute 37 Ngadeu defended very poorly. Kums eventually lost the ball, Nkuba passed and Morioka headed the ball against the nets. So everything had to be redone for Ghent, which owed the goal to itself. A few minutes later, the buffalo’s it even more difficult. Mbenza tugged at the jersey and pushed Joseph Okumu who couldn’t control himself and pushed Mbenza onto the floor. Red card and so Ghent had to play more than half with his tens. A frustrating five minutes for Hein Vanhaezebrouck.

In the second half, everyone expected Charleroi to take the game. The zebras came out of the locker room weak. There were no real opportunities. Carelessness was an asset at both Ghent and Charleroi. Fifteen minutes before time we suddenly woke up again. A bad, sloppy pass ended up at the feet of Adem Zorgane. The midfielder kept the ball well low and gave Charleroi the lead with their second real chance of the match. After the second goal of the home team, Ghent was unable to offer an answer. The match ended in a 2-1 win for Charleroi. A frustrating evening for Hein Vanhaezebrouck and the buffalo’s who seem to have really screwed themselves up. Ghent therefore suffers a first loss in 14 away matches in the competition.
