World champion Nino Schurter was the best at the World Cup last week and wanted to add the World Cup to that today. The Swiss did not win today in the final round in Val di Sole. That honor went to Frenchman Titouan Carod. Schurter was second and thus takes the overall victory. For Schurter it is already the eighth overall victory, a record. In the standings, the Zwiter has 103 points more than Carod. De Froidmont is the first Belgian in eighth place.
However, Schurter will not be completely satisfied with his second place. The Swiss has been chasing the record of Frenchman Julien Absalon for a while. Both men have 33 WB moto wins to their name. Schurter only hoped to become a record holder today, but will have to wait for that for a while
Ferrand-Prévot wins in the women’s
In the women’s Pauline Ferrand-Prévot took the victory. The 30-year-old Frenchwoman led a blistering attack and was almost a minute and a half ahead of compatriot Loana Lecomte. Switzerland’s Jolanda Neff finished third.
In the final standings, the Swiss Alessandra Keller won with 1,682 points ahead of the Australian Rebecca McConnell (1626) and the Dutch Anne Terpstra (1618).
