The peloton of the Simac Ladies Tour did a lap around Arnhem in the Netherlands today. The course designers rolled out the red carpet for the sprinters. But the proposed bunch sprint did not materialize.

The Dutch Mischa Bredewold and Eleonora Camilla Gasparrini stayed out of the peloton after a nerve-racking game of cat and mouse. At the finish, the tandem only had 5 seconds left. In the mutual sprint, Bredewold showed that she had just a little more in the tank than her Italian fellow escapee.

The fastest of the onrushing peloton was Lorena Wiebes again today. She put her leader’s jersey even more in the paint. Earlier this week she already won two stages and provided an assist for her teammate Charlotte Kool. For example, 50% of stage wins in the Netherlands went to Team DSM.

Julie De Wilde (Plantur – Pura) was the first Belgian in eleventh place today.

Result stage 5:

1. Mischa Bredewold (Ned) 150.3km in 3h52’10”

2. Eleanor Camilla Gasparrini (Ita)

3. Lorena Wiebes (Ned) on 5″

11. Julie De Wilde on 7″

Position:

  1. Lorena Wiebes (Ned) in 13u33’17”
  2. Audrey Cordon-Ragot (Fra) on 10″
  3. Karlijn Swinkels (Ned) on 40″
  4. Riejanne Markus (Ned) on 44″
  5. Ruby Roseman-Gannon (Aus) at 52″
