German top jockey Richard Vogel has been nicknamed Mr. Got Bundeschampionate. This year he was at least as successful as other years, but that’s not all. His girlfriend Sophie Hinners did just as well. And in the final of the six-year-old show jumpers, all the medals went to Mr. and mrs. Bundeschampionate: gold for Vogel with the Holsteiner Dax (by Dinken), silver for Vogel with the Hanoverian Cornet XL (by Cornet Obolensky) and bronze for Hinners with the Holsteiner Viva las Vegas W (by Vagabond de la Pomme).
The fact that one couple wins almost all prizes at the Bundeschampionate has never happened on the Burandt-Wiese, the jumping ring. Perhaps only the dressage couple Dr. Ulf and Eva Möller comes closest to such successes. This weekend there was one success after another for the show jumping couple Vogel and Hinners in Warendorf: it started with the fantastic victory of United Touch S (by Untouched), who has only been in Richard Vogel’s stables for two weeks, in the Grote Price Friday. Yesterday followed silver in the Bundeschampionat for seven-year-olds with Munin (by Mylord Carthago) under Richard Vogel and bronze for Honeybunny (by Livello) with Sophie Hinners. Today Hinners won gold in the five-year-olds with Kalifa (by Million Dollar) and also sent two other horses to a fifth and sixth place.
The icing on the cake for the six-year-olds followed: the entire podium was occupied by the couple from Dagobertshausen. The Holsteiner Dax (Dinken x Corrado) was the fastest in the jump-off with 39.3 seconds, Vogel’s second horse Cornet XL (Cornet Obolensky x Lex Lugar W) was slightly slower (39.57 seconds). And Sophie Hinners also stayed under 40 seconds (39.98) with Viva las Vegas W (Vagabond de la Pomme x Cancara).
