The child was taken to hospital unconscious by his 19-year-old father Landon Parrot, Police Chief Michael Goodwin said in a Facebook post. But help was of no avail. Goodwin: “The child died after being left unattended in the car for about 5 hours, with an outside temperature of 30.5 degrees.”
Always a different story
The son’s father was arrested and questioned. In those conversations, the father gave different information about what would have happened to his son.
When the police confronted him, he confessed. “He had not forgotten his child,” said the police chief. “It was a deliberate act to leave his child in the car so that his son wouldn’t bother him at home.” The father therefore remains incarcerated and is charged with murder.
It is more common in the United States for a child to be left in the car. The number of children dying as a result has actually increased in recent years, CNN writes. This year, 22 children are said to have died in the country who were left behind in the car.
