Julie Stockman crowned her beautiful season with the provincial title for women’s elite on Saturday. The Waregemse proved to be the fastest in a bunch sprint in Hulste.

Stockman took a big step forward. In April she was at the party in Wortegem-Petegem. She also won the Wielergala in De Pinte and the Kermisprijs in Berlare. In Hulste she kept a series of toppers behind her. Alana Castrique was second in the day result. Fenna Vanhoutte only needed her third place to gird the silver medal. Seasonal revelation Margot Vanpachtenbeke took bronze in her fifth place.

Belgian champion Jilke Michielsen came second in the competition for girls-novices. Auke De Buysser won. Laerke Expeels was third ahead of Luca Vierstraete. In the girls juniors, Canadian Ava Holmgren won ahead of two compatriots.

With his fourth place, Siebe Bauwens was the best West Flemish among the newcomers. Florian Delier won ahead of Fabrice Lefevre and Célian Deweerd. (tvm)
