FC Twente player Fenna Kalma had a fantastic season last season. With 33 goals in 24 matches, she became top scorer and player of the year in the women’s premier league. However, a place in the European Championship selection of national coach Mark Parsons was not reserved for Kalma. The new national coach Andries Jonker sees her.
Jonker immediately included Kalma in the selection for the duels against Scotland and Iceland and let her make her debut against Scotland immediately. After an hour of play, she fell into top striker Vivianne Miedema. She was immediately important by scoring the winning goal in the exhibition game in the 89th minute. Coming Tuesday, a crucial game is scheduled for the Orange Lionesses. Iceland, which is currently first in the World Cup qualifying group, is coming to visit. It is the last group match and there must be won to go straight to next year’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Otherwise, the Netherlands will have to enter the play-offs to qualify.
It is a real dream week for the 22-year-old FC Twente striker. Not only did she score the winning goal on her debut in the Dutch women’s team, but she also received two awards: the prize for top scorer of the past Eredivisie season and the prize for player of the year of the past Eredivisie season.
