An Australian woman has accidentally received an amount of 10.5 million Australian dollars, converted about 7.2 million euros, from crypto platform Crypto.com. The platform only discovered the error after seven months and is now taking legal action to get the money back.

This reports the Australian Channel 7, which has seen legal documents. The mistake was made as early as May 2021 and only came to light during an audit seven months later. The woman should have been paid 100 Australian dollars. However, due to an error, no less than 10.5 million Australian dollars were transferred. This is because an account number has been entered in a box where the amount of money must be entered.

Some of the money has since been returned to Crypto.com. However, the woman is said to have spent 1.35 million Australian dollars on a house in a suburb of Melbourne, Australia. Crypto.com has now gone to court to demand the money back. The judge has already partly ruled in favor of Crypto.com. The woman has to sell the purchased home again and repay the crypto platform with the proceeds.
