Klavertjevier places ‘reading caravan’: “More and more children need a quiet place” | Puurs-Saint-Amands

Puurs-Saint-AmandsKlavertjevier primary school has a special place: a real ‘reading caravan’. “Those who need some peace and quiet can settle down here during playing times. This new place can also be used for certain lessons or conversations,” says care coordinator Daniëlle Muyshondt.

“We have noticed in recent years that more and more children are looking for a little peace and quiet during playtime. They would then take a book from the classroom to read on a bench in the playground. But of course there is also a lot of pressure and often loud, so we went looking for a quieter place for these students.”

“Our parents’ council found the solution: the members bought an old caravan and completely renovated it over the past few months. A lot of pressure was taken down, built up, painted and decorated… The result is beautiful. We are now looking for the necessary books and comics for all ages to fill our reading caravan with.”

Great added value

“However, we would also like to use this nice place for other things. For example, a lesson with the speech therapist or a conversation about behavior or emotions can also take place here. Our reading caravan will undoubtedly be a great added value for everyone at school.”
