Leader Anderlecht will soon travel to Cercle Brugge, the last in the play-offs. Will Purple & White take a new step towards the title?
Last Wednesday Anderlecht won relatively easily 3-0 against Cercle Brugge, on Sunday it will go to Jan Breydel. In February, the Purple & White won 0-3 against the Association in the regular competition.
Anderlecht may have to do without injured Schmeichel and Dreyer, who dropped out on Wednesday with injuries. Riemer may be able to count on Verschaeren’s return.
The away match against Cercle could be a turning point for Anderlecht’s title ambitions. They have not yet won a point on a move in these play-offs, the move to Cercle should change that.
Can Cercle deal with its past against Anderlecht?
Muslic’s team will be stronger than last Wednesday. Popovic and Daland return from suspension, Somers was ill. “We still have some weapons and we will try to use them on Sunday,” Muslic said.
Recent history does not speak in favor of Cercle. They lost the last four games against Anderlecht, conceding ten goals and could not score themselves. It’s up to Muslic and co to break that statistic.
