Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has ordered the relevant authorities to ensure that the families of the two Thai workers killed in Taiwan are appropriately compensated, and that the third Thai worker, who was seriously injured, receives proper care, said Government Spokesman Chai Wacharonke today.
The spokesperson said the families of the two Thais who died will each receive 40,000 baht and actual funeral expenses, not exceeding 40,000 baht. The injured man will receive 30,000 baht in compensation and, if he wants to fly back to Thailand, he will receive another 15,000 baht in traveling expenses, he added.
Two Thai workers were killed and another seriously injured in an explosion at an aluminum factory in Taiwan on Saturday.
The three Thais were among six employees who sustained injuries in the explosion at the Juei Feng aluminum factory in the Hu Noei area. Two Thais were later pronounced dead, while the third is now in a stable condition following surgery.
The Thai labor office near the aluminum plant is working on compensation and other benefits for the victims.
Thailand’s Public Health Minister Cholnan Srikaew said that the ministry is coordinating with the Foreign Ministry to arrange for the return to Thailand of the injured worker, if he so wishes, and has assigned its officials in Chaiyaphum and Maha Sarakham provinces to provide bereavement support to the dead victims’ families.
