The Pole had been on the ‘Europe’s Most Wanted’ website for some time and was wanted for a double murder in 2005 in his home country. According to Polish media, he fled to the Netherlands after the murders, where he may have lived as a construction worker in recent years. The court in Amsterdam is expected to decide soon on his extradition.

MMA player who committed double murder

The Dutch police are talking about the arrest of ‘a renowned former MMA (mixed martial arts) fighter’, as can be read in the NOS. Various Polish media claim that it concerns their 43-year-old compatriot Rafal Pacyna.

According to the Interpol website, Pacyna was wanted for ‘murder and causing grievous bodily harm’. The crime the Pole is guilty of is a double murder of a man and a woman in 2005. Pacyna beat both victims to death in their own home. The reason for this is still unclear. A few days later he set fire to the house in question and then fled the country.

According to the Polish court, it has been established that the 43-year-old MMA player is responsible for the brutal acts. In 2019, he was sentenced in absentia – Pacyna was already missing – to life imprisonment.

The Netherlands

There had been suspicions for some time that the Pole was hiding in the Netherlands, but previous attempts to track him down were unsuccessful. However, when Pacyna was placed on the list of most wanted European criminals, things gained momentum. New clues from both Poland and the Netherlands eventually led the investigative services to Schijndel in Brabant, where Pacyna was captured on Saturday, February 3.

Polish media report that the former MMA fighter may have worked in the Netherlands as a construction worker. This has not been confirmed by the Dutch authorities. The Amsterdam court is considering the possible extradition of Pacyna. The convicted murderer has now been removed from Interpol’s Most Wanted list.
