The Jamies, the awards for online video content in Flanders, were presented on Friday evening. Average Rob, Jonatan Medart and Knokke Off, among others, won prizes. The awards were presented in the context of the Ostend Film Festival.
The award show was already in its fourth edition and took place in the Grote Post in Ostend. A total of 18 awards were presented, both by a professional jury and by the public. The Jamie for best vlog went to Jonatan Medart. Christoper A. Lobanzo received the statuette for best comedy.
The series Knokke Off with Pommelien Thijs and Willem De Schryver won the fiction prize. The couple Gerben & Steffi received the award for best reality with their series De Leven. Elodie Gabias was rewarded with the Jamie for short form content. Michiel Vandeweert received an award for the best game streamer.
Ender Scholtens won the award for best video podcast with his Gossip Guy. In the Explaining Jamie category, in collaboration with the European Parliament, nws.nws.nws was voted by the public as the best explainer. The best Commercial Collab of 2023 went to Bockie De Repper x Accountants Van Morgen. Together they put the job of an accountant in the spotlight in a fun and informative way. The Business Jamie was for Qmusic.
The Blankenberge YouTuber Acid also won prizes. He went home with the Long Jamie. In the new talent category, Anastasya Chernook received the Streamz award for Rising Star. Make-up artist Maureen Naudts won the Niche Jamie, the prize for best focused content.
DJ Michael Amani received an award for best use of music. The Gaze by Matthijs Van Mierlo received the Skilled Jamie, the award for best technical skills, with its cleverly edited videos about art. With The Day I Became an IRONMAN, Average Rob, together with his brother Arno The Kid, received the audience award for the best video of the year. Average Rob also received the Jamie for best maker of the year. Moreover, the award was chosen by the nominees themselves.
Gloria Boateng received an award for her social impact. Boateng created content about mental health with her project Kalmeevous.
Actress and TV presenter Nora Gharib presented the award show. She received help in awarding the statues from, among others, Flemish Minister of Brussels, Youth and Media Benjamin Dalle, master of the Ostend Film Festival Gene Bervoets, Matthieu Bonne, Riadh Bahri, Obi Mundorff and Miss Belgium Emilie Vansteenkiste.
