Today the long-awaited report from the Research Committee on Conduct and Culture of Broadcasters (OGCO) by Martin van Rijn on social safety in public broadcasting is finally published.

Last modified: February 1, 2024, 10:37 AM

The investigation was initiated after the Volkskrant published an article in 2022 about alleged transgressive behavior by Matthijs van Nieuwkerk and the work culture at the popular program De Wereld Draait Door.

Although initially only DWDD would be examined, the investigation was broadened after more reports came in about similar cases within the entire public broadcaster. The commercial broadcasters were not included in the research.

The committee interviewed about two hundred people. In addition, 2,500 people completed a questionnaire. The committee announced on Tuesday that the employees it spoke to will remain anonymous.

The presentation starts at 10:30 am and can be followed via the committee’s website.

An overview of all events surrounding transgressive behavior at the Dutch public broadcaster can be found here.
