The Mission: Impossible and Top Gun star has never appeared on the small screen in a TV series.

Actor Tom Cruise is what you call a real movie star. He has already starred in many major blockbusters and, with one possible exception, all his films managed to make a profit. In recent years we have seen him in, among other things Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning and Top Gun: Maverick.

The actor plays with Mission: Impossible in a successful and long-running film series, but he has never starred in a television or streaming series before. Although, he once made one trip behind the scenes.

Action hero

In the 1980s, Cruise starred in several films that were eligible for Oscars and other film awards. Just think about The Color of Money, Rain Men and Born on the Fourth of Julybut during the 90s he turned into a real action hero.

After Mission: Impossible From 1996 he increasingly appeared in larger action films. Just think about Minority Report, The Last Samurai, The War of the Worlds and Jack Reacher. Of The Mummy Cruise hoped to start a new major film series, the failed Dark Universe.

Series

There is no TV series listed under his name as an actor on the IMDb. Even as a producer he has not ventured into a series. However, there is one exception.

In 1993 he appears to have directed an episode of the series Fallen Angels. The individual episodes of Showtime’s neo-noir crime series are based on stories by established crime writers.

The series also starred big names like Gary Oldman, Tom Hanks, Gary Busey, Alan Rickman, James Woods, John C. Reilly and Joe Mantegna.

Cruise directed the episode “The Frightening Frammis” starring Peter Gallagher and Nancy Travis, among others, and was based on a story by Jim Thompson (1906–1977). You can see the episode in the video above.
