Club Brugge won 2-0 against Swiss Lugano. It qualifies for the next round of the Conference League, but Club did not play really good football.
Club Brugge wanted to bounce back against Lugano after the defeat against Union. In Switzerland, Club won 1-3 for two weeks, although they also came under heavy pressure in the second half.
However, Lugano had a plan and defended one-on-one, often leaving Mignolet as the free man to whom Club passed the ball. There were few chances for the home team in the first half hour.
In the last fifteen minutes of the first half, Club tried more on the flanks. That resulted in several shots from outside the box that flew over. Zinckernagel had the best chance, but looked too much for his right right and bumped into the goalkeeper.
Lugano was not really dangerous, but just before half-time Marques was able to head towards goal. Fortunately for Club central to Mignolet. Things had to be much better in the second half for Club, which tried without Skov Olsen and with Jutgla.

The Spaniard also got the first real chance for Club. Jutgla took advantage of a back pass from Espinoza that was too short and tried to lob goalkeeper Saipi, but he was back in time to catch the shot. However, Club’s game did not improve much.
But on the hour mark they were awarded a penalty. Buchanan went down after contact with Mahmoud in the box. Thiago claimed the penalty, but the Brazilian did not fail and gave Club the lead. Thiago also had the chance to make it 2-0, but his place ball was cleared off the line.
Espinoza also targeted Mignolet with a cannonball, but Club were awarded a second penalty ten minutes before the end after a mistake on Jutgla, but the Spaniard pushed the ball wide. And so it remained exciting. A deflected free kick provided relief in injury time.
Without really playing good football, Club takes the three points against Lugano again. It is thus placed for the next round of Conference League. Cercle Brugge awaits in the Bruges derby on Sunday.
