Izegem has a shortage of childcare places for children up to 2.5 years old. With 68 places per 100 children, the city is well above the Flemish average. “With the Local Children’s Desk we hope to provide an answer to the questions of parents who are looking for a place,” says Alderman Ann Van Essche. However, there are no concrete measures to eliminate the shortage (yet). We also asked a local daycare center how they experience this shortage.
