Teenager still critical after being hit with an electric scooter (Sint-Jans-Molenbeek)

The 19-year-old boy who was brutally beaten up by several perpetrators last week is still in mortal danger, the Brussels public prosecutor’s office has learned. The teenager was hit with an electric scooter, among other things.

Last Wednesday, the victim was chased by about ten people for an unknown reason. The teenager was tackled particularly seriously near the Beekkant metro station on Edmond Machtenslaan. “He received several blows, including with an electric scooter,” says Yasmine Vanoverschelde of the Brussels public prosecutor’s office.

The young man was treated at the scene by emergency services and then taken to hospital in critical condition. “He is still in mortal danger,” said Vanoverschelde. “It is still unclear what exactly happened that night and who the perpetrator or perpetrators are. This will have to be determined by the ongoing investigation. And in the interests of that, we will make no further comment at this stage of the investigation.”
