Carol Danvers, Captain Marvel
Let’s refresh your memory: we saw how in the first feature film about this superheroine Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) reclaimed her memories and her identity from the dominant and tyrannical Kree. The former air force pilot was captured in 1989 after absorbing the power of the Tesseract. In 1995 she traveled back to Earth, where she immediately came into contact with Nick Fury and SHIELD, who helped her reach her full potential as Captain Marvel.
The first movie shows how she got her powers, and in ‘Avengers: Endgame‘ we saw exactly how powerful they are when they saved the world. In ‘The Marvels’ we get to know her a little better.
Kamala Khan, Miss Marvel
Captain Marvel will have to look for new recruits. She can count on her biggest fan, Kamala Khan from New Jersey. We saw her for the first time in the series ‘Miss Marvel‘, which was released on Disney+ in 2022 and was partly directed by the Belgian duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.
Kamala Khan, a role of Irman Vellani, thought she was an ordinary teenager. She is of Pakistani descent, is Muslim and navigates between her daily reality and her fantasy, which is fueled by superhero comics. She is a devoted fan of Captain Marvel and even dressed up as her.
But then it turns out that she also has superpowers herself. She can cosmic energy handle. In ‘The Marvels’ she meets her great idol, with whom she teams up to face the new threat. She is the youngest heroine of the MCU and takes her first steps on the silver screen in this film.

Monica Rambeau
Anyone who has seen ‘Captain Marvel’ knows Monica Rambeau al. We met her as the eleven-year-old daughter of Maria Rambeau, fighter pilot and best friend of Carol Danvers. Then she was played by Akira Akbar, now plays Teyonnah Parris the roll.
Monica works for the American intelligence service SWORD (Sentient Weapon Observation and Response Division), which was founded by her mother before she died. She was also seen in the series ‘WandaVision‘, in which she took the name Geraldine in the sitcom universe, before being brutally disowned by Scarlet Witch.
Through the events of that series, Monica also developed superpowers, although it is not yet clear what exactly they are. In ‘The Marvels’ we should get more clarity when she and Carol are reunited after many years.
‘The Marvels’ can be seen in cinemas from today. Those who want to be completely involved can (re)watch the MCU films and series via Disney+, available via the TV option ‘Pickx All Stars’ and ‘Pickx All Stars & Sports’ from Proximus Pickx.
