A fan of the French football club Paris Saint-Germain was stabbed on Monday night in Milan, where his club will face AC Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday evening. The man is in hospital with serious injuries, Italian media report based on police sources. His condition is stable.
A group of fans of the French club clashed with supporters of the Italian club in the nightlife area of Milan. Officers were also reportedly injured. AC Milan condemned the attack. “For us, football means passion, not hatred. Sport should unite, not separate,” the club reported on X.
There was also fighting in Porto late on Monday evening by supporters of Antwerp and FC Porto. According to Portuguese media, the police had to intervene and a number of catering establishments were closed. The disturbances were said to have been caused by a group of about three hundred Antwerp fans who started throwing patio chairs. The police allegedly intervened with rubber bullets.
